Description

Airthings Wave Smart Radon Detector

A smart radon detector that works with or without a smartphone. Simply wave in front of the detector to get a visual indication of your radon levels.

Radon is critical component to monitor if you want to have a healthy home. Radon gas is undetectable by humans, yet is the second leading cause of lung cancer. With the Wave, AirThings (formerly Corentium) created a device that would fit in every home and which could be used by everyone. To improve accuracy, and provide richer information, temperature and humidity sensors are built right in. Up to 1 year of data can be recorded with hour by hour results from the 3 sensors: Radon, temperature and humidity.

Brings light to dark places

For the first time you will be able to see radon levels in the dark. Simply gesture in front of the device to get a visual indication of your radon levels.

Simplicity defined

Airthings made the Wave easy to attach to the wall or ceiling. Using standard AA batteries ensures that there is no complicated wiring. A single screw attaches the base to the wall, and magnets keep the device connected to the base. With a battery life of 18 months (2-AA batteries), 1 hour to the first test results, and only one screw to mount, Airthings made it easy.

Features

Adjustable Scales

Temperature readouts may be adjusted to degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. Radon readouts may be adjusted to either PicoCuries per Liter (pCi/L, US standard) or Becquerels per cubic meter (Bq/m³,World standard). The US EPA recommends action be taken when levels are above 4 pCi/L. Humidity scale is fixed in % Relative Humidity (%rH).

Accuracy

Unlike a test kit, Airthings radon detectors are unaffected by humidity and other radiation.

Precision

After 7 days One standard deviation is within 20% of the actual radon level, measured at 2.7 pCi/L (100 Bq/m³).

Precise

After 1 month One standard deviation is within 10% of the actual radon level, measured at 2.7 pCi/L (100 Bq/m³).

General Advice

0 – 1.3 pCi/L: No action needed

1.3 – 2.7 pCi/L: Experiment with ventilation and sealing cracks to reduce levels

2.7 – 10.8 pCi/L: Keep measuring. If levels are maintained for more than 3 months, contact a professional radon mitigator

10.8 pCi/L and up: Keep measuring. If levels are maintained for more than 1 month, contact a professional radon mitigator
